Dave Stewart and Zola Collaborate

Multi-award winning kwaito star Zola has spiced up his musical career again, this time to help charities in Brazil ahead of 2014 soccer World Cup.

The 33-year-old singer, whose real name Bonginkosi Dlamini, took to the stage with the Brit Award-winning musician and songwriter Dave Stewart to improvise a new song.

Stewart was a member of Annie Lennox’s 1980s British pop group Eurythmics.

“Dave called me to the stage with the other artists that were there from other countries, and challenged us to try come up with a song for several charities that work with children of Brazil,” said Zola.

Mayor says T.I was pulled over for “Driving While Black”

Former Atlanta Mayor Andy Young has weighed in on the arrest of T.I., claiming the rapper may have been stopped for “DWB – Driving While Black.”

T.I. and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were arrested after they were stopped in the rapper’s Maybach on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, for allegedly making an illegal U-turn.

Police allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana, searched the vehicle and uncovered a small amount of ecstasy and what is reported to be meth-amphetamines.

Young questioned the police’s initial intent when they stopped the chart-topping rapper/actor, who recently starred in the #1 hit movie, Takers.

“There’s another culture in L.A. that I don’t understand,” Young told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Most people in Los Angeles would wonder why he was stopped. I don’t know why they should have been stopped … When a black man is stopped and not speeding … you call that driving while black.”

Young, who officiated T.I.’s wedding to Tiny in July, also counseled T.I. after the rapper pleaded guilty to federal drug charges.

T.I. immediately notified his probation officer of the arrest, as required by the terms of his probation.

At press time, T.I. is heading back to Atlanta. He will most likely have to appear in court where Judge Charles Pannell Jr. could revoke his probation and send the rapper to jail.

“T.I. is going to be back on his way to Atlanta in the next 24 hours,” Don Samuel, one of T.I.’s lawyers, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It’s almost certain he’ll end up appearing before the court here. But without knowing all the facts, it’s premature to speculate what the court is likely to do.”

According to the terms of T.I.’s probation, the rapper cannot possess or use any narcotic, or frequent any place drugs are sold, used or administered.

Woman Says Diddy Fired Her For Being Old

According to gossip king TMZ.com, a woman who say sshe helped to get Diddy’s career started is suing the hip-hop mogul (for $12 million) after she claims she was fired from Bad Boy Recordsbecause she was old and disabled. Francesca Spero filed the lawsuit in New York’s federal court, describing herself as a “51-year-old white woman” after being a high executive for Diddy since 1998.

In the court papers, Spero claims that she did butt heds with Diddy after she was informed she needed major “hip hop surgery” in 2008 then later she “suffered a relapse” to her past addiction to prescription meds and alcohol. Claming that Diddy was “unsympathetic to her condition,” she says they tried to freeze her out of the company but she continued her job, even signing new artists but was eventually fired in March and replaced by a woman 10-15 years younger who “lacked the skill set and experience Spero brought to the position.”

Miss Universe 2010 Contestant Tackled Full Body Scanner Question

During the Miss Universe pageant, Miss Ukraine was given the question as to whether or not she supported the use of full-body scanners that see through your clothes. Her answer was right out of the mainstream media’s take on it. If it improves security, she is all for it.

A glimmer of hope came from Miss Mexico, at the beginning of the clip, who was posed the question as to whether or not she felt unsupervised Internet usage was having a negative effect. Her answer was that the Internet is an indispensable tool for a modern world and that it is up to the family to teach proper family values and keep track of what their children do. Miss Mexico went on to win the pageant and claim the crown of Miss Universe.

Fantasia admits overdose was suicide

I didn’t have any fight in me. I didn’t care about anything. I just wanted out,” the “American Idol” winner, 26, told U.S. cable channel VH1. Celebrity magazine website People ran advance excerpts of the interview.

The R&B singer, who won the TV singing contest in 2004, took an overdose after being named in divorce papers filed by the wife of her long-time boyfriend and was overwhelmed by media attention.

“I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle,” Fantasia said.

“I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can’t accidentally take a whole bottle of pills.” She thanked the nurse that helped her after her overdose, saying she had been “a blessing”.

Fantasia was taken to a North Carolina hospital after overdosing and released several days later.

She issued a statement saying she was “heartbroken” over the relationship and sorry for any pain she had caused.

She releases her third album, “Back to Me”, on Tuesday.

The Justin Bieber-Kanye West team-up that began with a Twitter conversation this week has become a reality. Take it from the Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon, who flew to NYC yesterday at West’s invitation to add a verse to West’s remix of Bieber’s “Runaway Love.” “This is definitely taking place,” Raekwon tells the Music Mix. “It’s a historical moment for hip-hop.”

Raekwon and West have been meaning to work together for years. But the Staten Island rapper was as surprised as anyone to see his name come up in West’s tweets with Bieber last weekend. “Justin being a young cat, he probably wasn’t even really there when I was doing my thing [in the '90s],” he says. “But he recognizes the Wu-Tang legacy.” Indeed, Bieber wasn’t even born until four months after the Wu-Tang Clan’s classic debut dropped.

Drake Confirms R&B Mixtape

Always a gentleman, Drake smiled for the cameras and chatted briefly about his upcoming R&B mixtape and sophomore album at the BlackBerry Torch launch party in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (Aug. 11).

“I’m always accustomed to giving out free music, so I’m working on this new project for free and I’m also working on my second album,” said Drizzy, whose 2009 mixtape So Far Gone helped launch his hip-hop career.

While he didn’t drop any names of potential collaborators on the album, he did say “anything’s possible.”
